Interview | Aime Simone

Aime Simone has released his brand new single ‘In This Dark Time’. The Berlin by way of Paris singer and producer wrote the song during this isolated and lonely period of the coronavirus pandemic while he has been contemplating on these times.

‘In This Dark Time’ leads with a solemn hum of downbeat bass, stark guitars and pensive vocals, before building with upbeat electronics as Aime’s thoughtful lyricism shines a glimmer of hope and optimism for the future. Regarding the single Aime says:

“‘In This Dark Time’ is about being stuck in a difficult phase, desiring a rebirth, and turning to love to bring a new start. The song has a melancholic yet driven feeling, which for me invokes a sense of nostalgia, despair, and still, a hope for the future. I wrote and recorded the track recently at home during the on-going Covid-19 crisis. It is a reflection on these trying times where everyone is isolated, prompted towards inner considerations and facing existential fears.”

‘In This Dark Time’ follows the release of Aime’s debut single ‘What’s Up With The World?’ last month. The subtle alt-pop of ‘What’s Up With The World’ played as Aime’s meditation on the chaotic world we currently live in, and the power of love within it, reflecting strength in solidarity during a time where many feel a sense of isolation, numbness and anxiety.

Aimes' music reflects the separations of his disparate life and influences, pulling from his love of indie, his involvement in the Berlin techno scene, while also inspired by the likes of Lil Peep, Grimes and Kanye West, resulting in an exciting amalgamation of genres to curate his unique sound.
