Amber Jay | Pencilled Brims

Liverpool based artist Amber Jay is making her mark on the 2020 music scene, sharing her new single 'Pencilled Brims'.

Pushing boundaries of both bedroom and alt-pop, 'Pencilled Brims' is full of atmosphere and a unique flare, fuelled with a dark and edgy indie-pop vibe. Funky synths and a quirky melody create a backdrop for Amber's intricate and dreamy vocals, which progressively builds and unexpectedly bursts into a catchy and more energetic ending.

“Pencilled Brims holds a microscope over an initial moment of intimacy and how that moment almost becomes suspended in our minds, to be witnessed and analysed during and after the interaction has occurred. It highlights how in the action of intimacy there is a vignette-like experience around the event, allowing us to hone-in on specific details to extract their beauty. However, suddenly finding yourself tied within a person so intensely, can mean you lose sight of yourself and the perspective of the situation. The line between love and obsession becomes equally blurred and no matter how much you try and change a person ‘the nature of the beast never leaves its side.”

Amber's musical style take notes from the likes of Marika Hackman and girl in red, and she has now received support from the likes of BBC Introducing and many influential tastemakers. She has most definitely proved her upward trajectory with this new offering.

'Pencilled Brims' is out now.
