Chaz Cardigan returns with his brand new single entitled 'Feels Like I Know You', following the successful release of his 'Vulnerabilia' EP via J.J. Abrams’ Loud Robot imprint in 2020.
Once again boasting his skillset and songwriting ability, and co-produced / co-written by The Gifted, 'Feels Like I Know You' delivers Chaz's infectious brand of euphoric indie pop and his clear desire to release tracks that are crammed full of memorable melodies, infectious pop hooks, slick drum beats and energetic production. The anthemic chorus is both catchy and playful and you can't help but want to sing along, his sweet but powerful and passionate vocal chords truly shining though whilst the lyrically the track takes a look into the world of social media and how it affects us.
It's only a matter of time before Chaz Cardigans irresistible anthems start to top the charts.
Chaz says on the track,
“Social media really nurtures this desire we all have to be seen, and to find intimacy with strangers. You see someone’s life in pieces every day on your feed, and your brain puts them all together, like, ‘yes, I know them, we’re close! Just yesterday they went for a drive to their parents’ place.’ We’re all guilty of becoming friends with people who have no clue we exist. 'Feels Like I Know You' is about that disconnect between following someone at a distance everyday, and the easy, honest jump in logic to considering them a friend - or more. The weird consequence of everyone being a brand is that everyone, famous or not, we’ve all got these parasocial bonds with total strangers now; I really wanted to follow that idea to its extremity. Everybody’s a stranger, so no one’s a stranger; “1’s and 0’s, it’s just as real as skin”.”
Chaz Cardigan was raised on a musical diet of NSYNC and Michael Jackson before discovering Queen at the age of 10, sparking a religious determination to create and perform. Growing up outside of Louisville, he was classically trained in piano before teaching himself guitar, bass and drums, beginning to gig at the age of just 11, playing in a handful of punk cover bands whilst learning how to produce and mix music on a Tascam 4-track tape recorder.
Chaz is the product of the Millennial post-genre landscape; a studio polymath and an electric live performer with a wide array of influences spanning Kanye West to Bjork, David Bowie to Sun Ra. His imaginative, textural pop defies simple definition and transcends genre with a uniquely accessible voice.
