Following on from the release of several singles in 2020, including 'A Delphian Lullaby,' 'Faces' and 'The Algea,' Chloe Rodgers has released her impressive first single of 2021, titled 'Coins For Charon.'
The release of 'Coins For Charon' sees the rising British alternative-pop artist make a return to the aesthetic that she has become incredibly skilled at since she first appeared on the music scene. The single mixes together atmospheric piano-led soundscapes and a thunderous percussion sound, which delivers a grand and euphoric return that beautifully accompanies her delicate voice, which has a way of immediately captivating listeners.
When speaking about her new single, Chloe Rodgers explained:
"'Coins For Charon' was written by Anders Källmark and Nick von Hofwegan, AKA Young and Sick. It is about losing someone you love. I do like the track. The dynamic change and the percussion in the chorus was a good call, and the drummer (Giovanni Velez) is a genius!"
Her musical influences range significantly, from artists such as PJ Harvey to Billie Eilish, with such artists inevitably having a positive impact on every aspect of her music. However, she credits Thom Yorke as her biggest musical inspiration, explaining that "you know immediately that his lyrics have hidden depths, but the deeper you dig, the further you are from getting to what they might mean."
The remainder of 2021 looks bright for the solo career of Chloe Rodgers and the release of 'Coins For Charon' sets the benchmark for what the remainder of the year will look like for her, with a string of releases planned - we're already looking forward to hearing even more from her in the coming months!
'Coins For Charon' is out now and is available to purchase and stream through all major responsible major purchasing and streaming outlets.
