Chloe Rodgers | Back To The Quay

Coinciding with the announcement of her eagerly anticipated debut EP, Nottingham-based alternative-pop artist Chloe Rodgers has unveiled the title track from the upcoming release, 'Back To The Quay.'

Following on from singles such as 'A Delphian Lullaby' and 'Coins For Charon,' the release of her debut EP will inevitably mark another milestone in her music career to date.

'Back To The Quay' is very raw and pure in its acoustic nature, showcasing her beautiful and very captivating voice, adding even more levity and texture. Her newest release gives a preview of what can be expected from her upcoming EP, which is set to be released later this year.

Her new track sees her stripping things back to basics to an extent, stepping away from the electronic-led aesthetic that first catapulted her into the music industry, instead opting for a more organic and humbling direction.

When speaking about the inspiration behind the single, she explained:

"I wrote 'Back To The Quay' about my Papa (Grandad) after I lost him. He was starting to get Dementia, and then had a brain tumour removed and the operation went wrong. It was all downhill from there until he eventually passed away in late 2018. He watched his own Mum deteriorate in a similar way and always told us he didn't want to make it that far, which is what the first few lines are about. He was an amazing, witty, funny and musical Grandad, who inspired me to make up stories, to sing and to be myself. I miss him so much. I'm happy with how the song turned out. I think he would have liked it too. I think he'd have loved it actually. His usual word was 'tremendous!'"

Aptly described as 'one to watch,' Chloe Rodgers has a string of future releases ready to go - we're already excited to hear them, and look forward to hearing her debut EP!

Chloe Rodgers' debut EP 'Back To The Quay' is out on 26 November 2021.
