Christy | A Better Place

Christy has released his single 'A Better Place' via Made Records, taken from his forthcoming new acoustic EP, the first of two EP's set to come from the Scottish artist this year.

Captured entirely live and brimming with raw emotion and feeling, 'A Better Place' is effortlessly good. With only delicate piano and layers of poignant strings, Christy creates the most calming moment of easy listening with simple and pure instrumentation setting the scene for his mesmerising vocal to shine right through as he weaves between an impressive falsetto and a rustic croon. Release after release, Christy continues to deliver captivating music that will pull at your heartstrings and make you want to listen over and over.

He says,

"'A Better Place' is very nostalgic for me. This was the first song I wrote that kicked off my whole musical journey. I wrote it 4 years ago, while I was working in Paris at a time in my life where everything was changing rapidly and going very fast paced. Looking back on that now, I remember it as one of the best times in my life. For this reason ‘A Better Place’ means a hell of a lot to me, so we decided to record it as a live take to capture the most raw, emotive performance."

Christy burst onto the scene with his debut EP 'Homegrown' in 2020; a collection of songs which mixed the vocal tenderness of Jeff Buckley or Chris Martin with the swirling musicality of Bon Iver. Though intensely personal, this is not simple, singer-songwriter territory: the effervescent O’Donnell counts Ray Charles, John Martyn and Chet Baker as among his biggest musical influences. Since its release, Christy has gone from zero to well over a million streams on Spotify alone, and earned the accolade of One To Watch from both us and Amazon Music UK and various other publications.
