Manchester duo Cooper T kickstart with the release of ready-made fan anthem in waiting 'Gettin' In The Way'.
The first offering from their forthcoming debut EP; 'Gettin In The Way' is a bold arrival driven by duelling guitar riffs juxtaposed with their bassline roots and rebellious punk energy. Written by Cooper T and co-produced with renowned Drum'n'Bass DJ and producer Dub Phizix; the single is accompanied by a music video which sees them dealing attitude and charisma within the urban grit of their hometown.
Described as 'a cross between Slowthai, Happy Mondays and a modern day Specials; Cooper T are a striking duo in balaclavas and dead men’s suits running amok in modern metro Manchester. As 21st century Northern as you can get, they are rooted in the flickering all-nighter club scene of ricocheting post grime, jungle and breakbeats yet crisscrossed with 2 Tone and a punk DNA. Raised by the likes of Levelz Crew and Children of Zeus and integrated into the bass-heavy local underground music collective and Northern powerhouse studio NQ, Cooper T bring their own brand of socially conscious, keenly observational and rebellious music while maintaining a wicked tongue-in-cheek humour.
Beneath the surface of their mysterious and foreboding aesthetic, music and lyrics lies a much deeper facet. Their forthcoming debut EP is an eclectic mix of genre defying music with lyrics that capture living in the city with a surprising poetic vision. A product of the times, their socio-political lyrical content is equally as key to their delivery, which they describe as 'music for misfits'. A voice for the disillusioned, they capture the ominous sound of British life in 2023. Having built a strong live following and fanbase already with their own headline shows across the North of England and support slots on Blazer Boccle recent tour, they are set to gain a reputation as one of the most exciting, energetic, and relevant must-see live bands.
Every generation needs a band to signpost their times, sing about their lives, make sense of the senseless and deal with the reality that you can dance to. Cooper T have it all in place to be this generation's soundtrack.
