Quickly becoming one of the UK's freshest new artists, KiD RAiN continues to go from strength to strength since he burst onto the music scene last year, with his debut single 'Say Yes.' Between his modern pop sound and his infectious personality, he has collected over 250 million views on TikTok alone.

He has recently released his new single, 'Magic' which is a true testament to his fantastic talents. A romantic story of falling for someone, with KiD RAiN wearing his heart on his sleeve throughout the track, 'Magic' is guaranteed to ring in your head for days on end, filled with punchy beats, disco-tinged rhythms and funk-fuelled bass.

"If you feel like you need a song to sing in the shower when you're crying but also dancing, then this is your song. You're welcome. I didn't want to come back with new music until I was beyond sure that it was the best that I could give. This is the best that I can give. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do!"

Having recently announced his debut headline show in London for next month, KiD RAiN will no doubt end this year on a high. The Lowdown had the opportunity to catch-up with him, to speak about his new single, what can be expected from his debut live performance and more. Keep reading to check out what he had to say!

You have recently released your new single, 'Magic.' Following on from the immense success of your previous releases, what is it like for you to get this new track out there?

"I'm ABSOLUTELY BUZZING for this track to be out in the world. It's always very nerve-wracking releasing a new song, because no matter how much blood, sweat and tears you put into it, you never know what the reaction is going to be. I'm glad to see that everyone is loving the tune, so it's a big weight off my shoulders!"

What does 'Magic' represent to you?

"'Magic' is a true story. I wrote most of the lyrics sat in the back of a taxi after meeting the person who I wrote the song about. Every time I hear the song, I think of that time. It also represents my unconditional love for pop music, synth solos and stupidly filthy slap bass."

Do you have a favourite lyric from your new release?

'I've got every antidote, but I can't find the antidote for you.'

With the music scene continually evolving and TikTok becoming an increasingly popular way to promote music, do you feel that the use of that particular social media platform has made your music more accessible to a multitude of new listeners?

"Absolutely! You used to rely on record labels and/or thousands of pounds in marketing to even get people to try and listen to your music. Now, you can run your whole career yourself from a phone if you make the right content! It's been amazing to make so many new friends on TikTok, who have been so supportive of me and my music!"

How long did 'Magic' take to come together, right from the initial stages of the track?

"The song started with a voice note in the back of a taxi on the way to the studio, which you can hear on my TikTok. By the time I got to the studio, I already had the topline for the chorus in my head and put it over an electric piano sound! I loved the eighties vibe the electric piano gave the song, so me and Mitch Jones spent months perfecting eighties-influenced sound, which makes this song stand out from anything I've ever done. We were so inspired by the way the track was sounding that we called our friend Chris Dagger, who is an unbelievable bass player to come in and slap some bass on it, which sounded amazing. We can't forget THAT KEYBOARD SOLO! My face literally melted when we recorded that. This is the first time that I've shared the production/writing process with someone else - it's been a blast!"

You have several live performances in place for the remainder of the year. Are you looking forward to stepping out on stage and having the opportunity to perform your own music?

"Given the fact I've been jumping around my room playing out the show in my head for the past four weeks, I'd say I am pretty excited! I'm also really excited to meet everyone who I've met on the Internet over the last eighteen months who have been unbelievably supportive of me and my music."

Is there any aspect about performing live you are most looking forward to?

"I have a few VERY exciting surprises planned. I'm excited to see everyone's faces when they happen. I'm also going to be playing some brand new, previously unheard music, which I can't wait for!"

Aside from your live performances, what else can we expect from you for the rest of the year/next year?

"Lots and lots and lots of new music - a silly amount! I'm also going to try and do as many live TikTok/Instagram sessions as I can. There's a real community feel on my live sessions. It's a safe space for people to chat/listen to music."

What is your proudest achievement to date, and is there anything in particular you would most like to achieve?

"I think the day I released my first single 'Say Yes' was my proudest moment. There were years and years of turmoil (and I mean serious turmoil) to get to that point, and there were months that I was convinced it would never happen. To open Spotify and see my song there, it was an amazing feeling. In terms of what I want to achieve, I'd like to play Leeds Festival, and also have a song in the UK Top 40 in the next few years!"

Last but not least, do you have a message for all those who support you?

"Thank you all for sticking by me. My DM's are always open! See you in London on 25 November!"

'Magic' is out now and is available to purchase and stream through all major responsible music purchasing and streaming outlets.
