FJ Law, solo project and artist moniker of songwriter and producer Danny Hall, has released his debut EP 'Tape 1' via 225 Records / Believe, featuring single 'family' as well as 'friends', 'tongue tied', 'catching 22' and three previously unreleased tracks.
'family' features simple but captivating instrumentation where atospheric and shimmering synths swirl over light keys to create a calming moment of easy listening and new and welcome layers to FJ Law's sound. This track takes a deeper dive into deeply personal songwriting as he writes from the heart with raw honesty, lyrically detailing the comfort he feels in having a supportive network around him. His autotuned yet heartfelt vocal which is immersed in emotion sits right at the front in centre, creating his most vulnerable piece of work to date.
Speaking about the single, FJ Law says:
“A confession to my family, and a love letter to my family. Admitting that at the best of times I don’t appreciate the value of having them around supporting me as much as they do. Admitting the struggle I have had with making a career from music and the overwhelming embarrassment of not leaving home because of this. However during any low points I encounter my family are always there to pick up the pieces and drive me to persist until I reach my goals.”
Support for FJ Law has come from BBC Introducing, a slew of influential tastemakers and radio support in the US. Spotify have added his tracks to their editorial playlists including New Music Friday UK, Fresh Finds and New Pop UK, as well as Apple Music who have added songs to their New Music Daily playlist. He has previously worked alongside the likes of Nina Nesbitt and Kwassa and has already had support from the likes of Phil Taggart, who picked FJ Law’s unreleased track ‘State To State’ for his ‘Chillest Show’ when he was at Radio 1.
