Alternative rock songwriter Francisco Martin has unveiled his long awaited ‘Manic’ EP, out everywhere via 19 Recordings.
His first true artistic statement, the 6-song EP is a bold collection of emotionally-raw alternative, pop-rock tracks. Francisco’s dreamy falsetto, and robust belting are present throughout ‘Manic,’ but the songs themselves represent a new era of liberated creativity.
To celebrate the release, Francisco Martin has released a visualizer for latest single 'Narcissist', which finds him reflecting on his own 'manic' moments. He explains,
“'Narcissist' is based on a character that I’m all too familiar with. It shares thoughts and feelings I have during some of my 'manic' moments. When you’re in a manic episode, you feel like the world is all about you. We crave the idea of being ‘liked by everyone. It’s great that our generation is living in the age of the Internet, but it distorts our reality of who we are and how people perceive us. It’s a song about today’s social climate and how it affects normal everyday people. Me singing about being a narcissist isn’t literal, it’s a metaphorical symbol of our generation and how we can turn to narcissistic tendencies when we’re not taken care of and don’t feel like we get the love we deserve, because at the end of the day, ‘who doesn’t want to be loved?’”
Francisco announced the EP earlier this year with 'Nobody Listen's To Me', a pounding, anthemic track that’s brimming with dreamy electro-pop ambience, angry and angular guitars, and get-it-off-your-chest song writing. He followed it up in May with 'KISSING ON A BALCONY', a frisky, delicately-textured pop single with clever rhythmic punctuations and pristine hooks, proving that Francisco hasn’t lost his romantic side.
After his first-ever tour and a clutch of well-received singles, Francisco realized he had an all-consuming yearning to be his authentic self in his music. To that end, he worked feverishly in his apartment at all hours of the night on his new EP while facing complaints from the neighbors. The release bursts with dynamic musicality - stately balladry, cathartic, grungy aggression, catchy EDM, and moments of soulful serenity. Throughout the EP, Francisco bravely shares personal reflections on mental health, relationships, angst, and human disconnection in the age of connection. It’s been a transformative journey of reclamation for Francisco as he unapologetically shares his true artistic self with the milestone release. The EP is raw, relatable, and, most importantly, real.
“This EP is something I cherish—I found my path with this one.”
Francisco Martin is currently touring the country in support of The Score and Dreamers and performing material off of the ‘Manic’ EP.
