Friend Group | I’m The Sea And You're The Moon

Following a number of single releases across 2020, Friend Group returns with his highly anticipated 3rd album ‘I’m The Sea And You’re The Moon’ with brand new lead single Mechanism’.

Friend Group is the one man experimental pop outfit, manned by Brian Wight. The producer and sole song writer makes worlds of sound and synth that nods to influences of today’s and tomorrow's pop staples, with winks at nostalgic alt music from your younger years.

Friend Group’s signature trick is to leave the listener straddling the line of deep thought and dancing. Based in Nashville, Wight cites a variety of influences to achieve a pop sound of tomorrow with nods to the emo/punk wave that raised him.

He sings about knowing that he's going to have to cope with this pain, grief and fear, but over a dark and dance-y room of synths and grooves that would make both Michael Jackson and Panic! At The Disco proud.

He says:

"'Mechanism' was written about the ways of coping during the perfect storm of a serious breakup happening right at the start of a global pandemic and self isolation. As if living alone during the quarantine wasn't enough, the loss of love only turned up the volume of the silence".

The album takes influences from further fields, with songs such as recent single ‘Both Lose’  being reminiscent of ‘Owl CIty’. What sets this record apart from the ever growing crowd is Friend Groups ability to apply his signature to a variety of tracks composed with different influences in mind.

With the release of ‘I'm The Sea And You're The Moon’

2020 is set to be the singers biggest year yet.
