This energetic, fun and light-hearted track is about growing up and figuring out what you want.

Now based in Berlin, Andri is mostly exploring Hip-Hop and R&B styled production, whilst rooted in guitar and emotional, earnest lyrics.

We thought it was a great time to get to know the artist a little better....

Hello and welcome to The Lowdown! How are you?

"Thank you very much! I’m feeling great! I’m in Iceland over the summer and it’s busy times but it’s great."

Introduce yourself and tell us a fun fact about you!

"My name is Andri Jónsson, I’m currently about to start my last year in sound engineering in Berlin. A fun fact about me is that i lost the top of my pinky 6-7 years ago."

Where are you from?

"I’m from Iceland! I also lived for 11 years in Luxembourg with my family."

When did you start making music?

"I had the passion for playing guitar from a very early age and had a guitar i fiddled around with and tried to learn on my own but I didnt take it seriously until I was 17. Then I learned to play guitar, started a band with 2 friends and have been making music daily since."

What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not making music?

"Sleeeep. And writing, writing lyrics and some passages. Also drawing and just listening to music."

How would you sum up your sound in a sentence?

"Mellow guitar vibes with intriguing lyricism that tries to tell a story and feeling through sound."

Have you had a stand out moment in your career so far?

"Probably my first gig in Iceland in January. I love playing live and the vibe was incredibly nice. More people showed up than i thought would, it was great."

What would be your dream venue to play?

"The Funkhaus in Berlin. It’s a really beautiful venue with a very intimate vibe. I’ve been to some concerts there and they have all been amazing, really intimate and raw."

You’ve just released your new track ‘Old Man’. Tell us a bit about it!

"It’s a very summer vibe track. One of my more upbeat tracks blending my indie influences with more hip-hop vibes. The lyrics are actually about reflective about life and fear of growing old and wanting to accomplish things and find love, but then realising that you just gotta do what you gotta do and things are the way they are."

How has the reaction been so far?

"It’s been really great actually! I think people really enjoy it. It’s definitely a bit different from some of the other stuff i’m working on so it’s interesting to see peoples reaction. I’ve had some nice messages about it."

What makes the track a 'must listen'?

"It’s feel good. It’s interesting, different and feel good! Can’t go wrong playing it on the road somewhere."

And finally, what is coming next for you?

"I have a looot of plans. Definitely playing live a lot more. And setting up some crazy concerts. Also releasing a lot more music with more pace now. Me and the producer i’m working with, Ainsley Adams, have 4 more tracks on the way and are continuing to work on more after I get back to Berlin after summer. Also Album. This next year is gonna have a big focus on my first album. I’ve been doing a lot of planning and writing for it and thinking about the sound and message and have 1-2 drafts that I find fit in there and i’m going to be sculpting that with love and emotion over the next year. It’s gonna be wild."
