After reaching over 20.000 Streams on Spotify in less than a month with her last single ‘Psycho’, the 21-year-old ex-Metal singer Cloudy June is now back with her upcoming release ‘Pretty Pills For Broken Hearts’.

Hello and welcome to The Lowdown! How are you doing?
"Hi there, I'm doing well! Thanks for having me!"
Introduce yourself and tell us a fun fact about you!
"My name is Cloudy June, I make pop music but I sang in a Death Metal Band for three years!"
Where are you from?
"I was born and raised in Berlin."
When did you start making music?
"I actually started writing my first songs when I was only 11 years old. But I didn't really start to work on my artist career until I turned 16."
What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not making music?
"Read books about science, work out or eat banana pancakes!"
How would you sum up your sound in a sentence?
"Metal mentality meets pop music."
Have you had a stand out moment in your career so far?
"When I was on tour with Kat Frankie we played a sold-out show in the famous Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. That was an absolutely unforgettable moment for me."
What would be your dream venue to play?
"One of my favourite venues in Berlin is Huxley Neue Welt (Huxley's New World). It would be a dream come true to play on that stage."
You’ve just released ‘Pretty Pills for Broken Hearts’. Is there a story behind the song?
"'Pretty Pills for Broken Hearts' is about the inner conflict between reason and addiction. The person in the song has previously managed to break free from drug use, but is now fantasizing about going all-in again because they are going through a hard time in their life. It turns out, the 'Pretty Pills' are not really a cure for a broken heart. But rather they are the symptom."
How has the reaction been so far?
"I feel like this is many people's favorite song that I made and it might be mine as well! The reaction has been as great as with my single 'High Waist to Hell', which made it into the Top 30 on HypeMachine. So I am absolutely happy with the way everything is going! Thanks to everyone who is listening!"

"It's a fun but dark, silly but sinister, unique but catchy song with a chorus that you will have stuck in your head for days!"

"I am always working on new songs and I already have a new release planned for September! So there's definitely more coming soon!"
