We had the chance to speak with George Rose on the release of his brand new single ‘georgio x’

Tell us a little about yourself! “I'm George Rose, I like making music, rock climbing, home made chicken nuggets, salsa dancing, going for runs and hanging out with friends.”
When did you start making music?
“I started making music when I was 14, I started writing my own songs and going to open mic nights and really enjoyed it. I wanted a way to record those songs so I downloaded Mixcraft on my mums computer and used a singstar microphone to record everything!”
Where are you from and do you feel like your surroundings inspire your sound in any way? ”I grew up in a tiny village called Tiffield, about 20 minutes away from Northampton. It was so quiet and there wasn't much to do growing up, this definitely helped me to focus on making music and gave me a lot of time to be creative. Most of my songs are from parts of my subconscious and how I'm feeling, so where I grew up must have an impact on what I create and who I am now.”
Who or what inspires you musically? “I love watching music videos and listening to new/exciting music. When I find something that I think is really impressive or that I just enjoy listening to, it inspires me to create for myself as the possibilities are endless, some examples range from ElyOtto's track 'sugar crash', Dominic Fike and Coldplay's first five albums.” What would be your dream venue to play live? “Any venue would be good as soon as the world opens up again! My dream venue to play would be Shepherds Bush o2.”
How would you sum up your sound in the form of a hashtag? ”#georgioisdead”
You recently released your new single ‘georgio x’! Tell us a little about the track! “Me and my friend Max Smith wrote the track together in January, we spent a couple days at the studio writing it then I brought in David Longcake on the Saxophone and Eden Hunter to do some BVs.”
Do you have a favourite lyric from the track? “The track tells a very strange story about something that I wasn't aware of while I was writing it, I can't pick a favourite lyric as I'm not too fond of any of them on a personal level. I enjoy the story it tells though and it'll be expanded through more songs coming this August.” Finally, what else can we expect from you in the near future? “The music video to 'georgio x' will be coming out soon, I'm currently working on my debut album and I've got a few more singles coming before the end of summer.”
