LANTÉ/BORG is the newest project from Signe Victorine Records. Songwriter/producer and labelboss Caroline Lanté has teamed up with DJ/producer Fredrik Borg to make fresh house music for hot days and long nights of dancing, flirting and fun.
We thought it was a great time to introduce you to the duo, following their debut release 'LISE'...
Hey Guys! Welcome to The Lowdown! Introduce yourselves and tell us a bit about you!
"Hey! Thanks for having us. We are Caroline Lanté and Fredrik Borg, together we are LANTÉ/BORG, a newly formed dance music duo." Where are you from? "From Stockholm, Sweden. Not born and raised but we’ve been living here for a long time."
When did you start making music?
"We have both been making music since we were in school, played in bands, sang in choirs, DJed, and eventually moved into production. Since we’ve known each other Fredrik has been focused on DJing and has released a cassette on Editions Ikioma while Caroline started Signe Victorine Records and has been trying out producing some other artists."
How did you meet each other?
"We met in a bar in here in Stockholm about ten years ago, Fredrik was DJing and Caroline came to hang out with her bartender friend. One thing led to another. We’ve been married for four years now and forming a production duo feels like the logical next step for us."
What’s your favourite place to play live?
"For now we’re a studio based project, but we’ve been doing some DJ gigs together and the absolute favourite place we’ve had the privilege to do that is on a float in the Stockholm Pride Parade. It’s one of the best days of the year and we’re stoked every time they ask us back." How did this project come about?
"With everything else slowing down because of the corona virus we found ourselves with a lot of time to spend in our home studio. We’ve been talking about doing this for a while and now there were no excuses. Once we got going the track was done almost within a week." You’ve just released your debut single together which is called ‘LISE’. Tell us a bit about it!
"The track is an homage to a friend of ours. We tried to capture her positive vibe and great energy in the music. Her birthday was coming up when we started and having the track finished by then worked as a perfect deadline to jump start this project. Only now other friends are asking if they’re getting a track too…" For anyone who hasn’t listened to the track yet, how would you sum it up in a sentence?
"Happy joy, dramatic strings, big piano, deep house disco vibes!" What’s coming next for you guys?
"There’s some remixes of Lise in the pipeline. Waiting on that we’re enjoying what’s left of the summer while working on new ideas back in the studio, with not much else to do we’re feeling confident that more music will be released pretty soon!"
