Feature | KEHLI

KEHLI is back with her fresh new single, 'Not OK,' which is a ballad in its nature, but is layered with bold and euphoric textures. Having already made a name for herself in the music industry with her previously releases 'Hypnotized,' 'Believe It,' 'Summer Lovin'' and her collaboration with Louis III on 'Ur So Cool,' the release of 'Not OK' marks her long-awaited return to the music scene.

KEHLI has become renowned for her warm and inviting approach to an alternative-pop sound. The production of the track also perfectly complements her beautiful vocals, with the two perfectly balancing one another out. There is no denying that her vocals are immensely powerful, but in this particular track, the emotion in her vocals is truly exemplified.

Here at The Lowdown, we had the chance to catch-up with KEHLI to talk to her about the new single. Keep reading to check out what she had to say!

You have recently released your new single, 'Not OK.' What is it like for you to get new music released?

"Every time I release a new single I still get the same feeling as if it was my first release. The excitement never dies, The long process behind releasing music makes me so proud of what I've created!"

For anyone who hasn't had a chance to listen to the single yet, can you sum it up in a couple of words?

"It's the horrible gut feeling you get when you realise someone is falling out of love with you or your life is falling apart."

How long did the single take to come together, right from the initial writing stages?

"Altogether, the initial concept was started back in June, so nearly five months in the making."

Does the single have a personal representation?

"Unfortunately it does! I really hope people can relate to this song, as I know I'm not alone when it comes to situations that make you feel like this, but to be able to write this song was such a release. I hope that people feel that too!"

Finally, do you have a favourite lyric from your new single?

"'Tired of feeling this way,' as I wrote down that line in my notes when I was in the studio, and so much frustration left my mind because I happily don't feel that way anymore!"

'Not OK' is out now and is available to purchase and stream through all major purchasing and streaming outlets.
