Ghanaian-born London based Afro-pop singer / songwriter Kingsley Brown has released his debut single entitled 'Drunk on You'.
The track is produced by Craig Sellar and combines a range of genres from R&B to Afro-pop to create an infectious and modern fusion with a catchy beat. It's melodic and instantly appealing to the ears with fresh, memorable melodies, and a smooth and rich vocal. A happy and feel-good track that would instantly fill any dance floor.
Speaking on the inspiration behind 'Drunk on you' Kingsley says,
“I'd like to think I'm bringing a different flavour and a new sound to the Afrobeats scene, one that has an eclectic sound and r&b/pop/ hi-life influences. Although the journey of songwriting has been a great learning curve, I am ready to embark on my solo career that takes me back to my roots.”
Arriving in the UK, at the age of 13 from Ghana, he was musically introduced to new genres like Garage, Grime, UK Pop and Rnb music, which he fell in love with. Feeling inspired, he indulged in some singing classes, with other up and coming artists at the time like Nao, in Walthamstow East London.
With years of experience in the industry and exposed to a wide variety of influences from a young age, from Bob Marley to Usher, Kingsley has developed an ability to compound different sounds, melodies and lyrics to produce some quality songs, working with the likes of Jason Derulo and Ella Eyre to name just a couple.
He worked closely with the current hit-maker Grades, to develop his songwriting skills and was eventually spotted by the renowned songwriter Wayne Hector, who recognised his potential as a songwriter. This propelled him to sign a publishing deal with Warner Chappell.
