Independent pop duo Mating Ritual, from Los Angeles have released the third single 'Voodoo' which is taken from their new album 'The Bungalow'.
This 70's feel indie pop banger is layered and skilled, produced to perfection and lyrically brilliant. The upbeat and melodic vibe makes this track the most wonderful summer sing along, with the most lush sounding instrumentation.
'The Bungalow' is loosely inspired by the East Los Angeles Home, and adds elements of Bossa Nova and Disco to the brothers influences. Finished the day before mandatory quarantine started, the album isn’t so much a reflection of the current state of the world, it’s a tongue in cheek look at the world they thought they were living in.
Ryan says:
“Had we known what was coming, we probably wouldn’t have poked fun at some of the very normal things we’re making light of on this album. Honestly I wish my biggest problems were being ghosted and disliking the westside. Hopefully we can get back to having problems that trivial again soon”
Previously known as Pacific Air, Ryan Marshall Lawhon founded the band when his brother decided to go back to school (which was short lived) when their music passions brought them back to creating together.
Since forming - the band have impressively received placements on Spotify's New Music Friday as well as Indie Pop Playlist, garnered over 30k followers on social media and supported bands such as Walk The Moon & Christine and the Queens, as well as selling out headline shows in the US and Canada.
