After returning earlier this year to deliver his stunning comeback single ‘Ghosts’, his first effort since his well-received EP ‘Stay Nocturnal’, singer-songwriter Murdo Mitchell is back again with a stirring visual for his recent single ‘Jaded’.
Directed by Johan Lundsten and filmed in the awe striking scenery of Sweden, the video is the striking counterpart to the rich and vibrant track, in which the young Scottish artist evokes the same degree of unfiltered emotion. Developing his penchant for warm and compelling storytelling through his songwriting, ‘Jaded’ plunges into the sentiment of distance growing between friends, with the video a visual exhibition of pain and loss.
Speaking about the new video, he said:
“We had in our head to get somewhere industrial - there’s something about big infrastructure that when up close can give off a certain type of energy, which I felt was a good match to the energy of the song. So, we ended up walking for miles… through the forest into an area with huge pylons. It was nearing sunset and it’s here amongst the Swedish mosquitoes that the second half of the video is set. The video isn’t so much narrative-based but feeling-based & the viewer can take away from it what they match that particular feeling to.”
Mitchell’s team is rapidly growing, backed by a team of heavyweight representatioN - Pick & Mix MGMT alongside Swedish indie tastemaker label, Icons Creating Evil Art and X-Ray Touring. He has performed at some of Scotland’s most popular festivals such as T-In-The Park, Belladrum, Linlithgow Folk Festival, Liverpool Sound City and the Edinburgh Fringe. He performed live in 2021 with the esteemed Gabe Coulter, Starsailor, and his close companion, Dylan John Thomas.
