Ones To Watch 2020 | Vistas

Updated: Jul 12

It’s fair to say that Scottish band Vistas made their name by gigging tirelessly across the UK, with word of mouth praise of their chaotic, life-affirming live show travelling far and wide. Racking up 30 million plays for songs released over the past two years and gaining support from Radio 1 DJ’s, they have quickly became one of the biggest rising and most promising indie bands in the UK.

Sold-out tours and support slots alongside the likes of The Wombats, Circa Waves and The Kooks have followed, with the band firmly making their home on the stage, hence having to make our One’s To Watch list of 2020.

If you could describe your sound in 3 words, what would you choose?

"Upbeat but melancholy."

As one of our ‘Ones to Watch’ for 2020, what can we expect from you in the coming months?

"We’ve got lots of stuff coming up over the next few months. In march we’re heading to SXSW for our first American shows, in May and June we’re playing round the UK on our biggest ever headline tour in support of our debut album ‘Everything Changes in the End’ and we’ve got lots of festivals planned for this Summer. There’s a few more singles to come from our debut album from now til’ its release on the 29th of May."

Hailing from Edinburgh, how do your Scottish roots play a part in your music?

"I think our Scottish roots filter into our music through the bands we grew up listening to bands like The View and We Were Promised Jetpacks we’re big influences on us so that definitely shows in our music. The Scottish music scene as a whole is incredibly vibrant right now so we’re just happy to be part of it."

Your latest release ‘Sucker’ is a high energy indie/pop anthem. Can we expect more of the same?

"Yeah absolutely, I guess that’s a bit of our signature sound wise. On the album there’s a bunch of tracks with different feels so it’s a nicely varied album with the overarching high energy indie we’re known for."

Your biggest headline tour begins in May and will see you take a huge step up onto some big stages across the country. What are you most looking forward to?

"We just can’t wait to get out on the road again and play to our fans. It feels like ages since our last tour so we’re itching to get back on stage. We’re really looking forward to our first trip to America and all the festivals we have lined up. Our headline tour will be really special because we’ll finally get to play our debut album live.
