'Vanilla' is festival heavyweights, Red Rum Club's first new music since the release of their 2021 hit album, 'How To Steal The World' and hits streaming on the eve of their latest US, UK and Ireland tours.
Evoking the band’s heavier alternative song writing interests, 'Vanilla’s' stomp flicks to the likes of The White Stripes in the band’s record collections, while the tight lyrical intent once again recalls the band’s greatest, shared influence: The Arctic Monkeys. The band reunited with long-time, trusted producer, Chris Taylor at Elevator Studios in their home city to put down this and a second new track which remains closely under wraps.
For the single's brilliant video, Red Rum Club enlist the deadpan delivery of actor, Thomas Turgoose, the This Is England star stepping into the frame as an impossible-to-please bedroom music critic ready to bring the high-flying six-piece down to Earth.
Of the single, famed trumpet player, Joe ‘The Blow’ Corby, says:
“We based all of 'Vanilla' off the irony of having such a bland flavour with such an exciting beat. It’s got that kind of feeling of trying to make sure you’re not a bland guy, trying to stay a bit exciting, but it’s ultimately not to be taken too seriously.”
Having hit US shores earlier this year to visit SXSW and enjoy a run of nationwide dates in support of The Lathums, the smooth storytellers with effortlessly danceable tunes make a bold bid to win new Stateside friends, while basking in the support of those already on board. Confirming a total of 14 US dates, taking in their first headline shows in New York City, Washington D.C and Los Angeles, 'Vanilla' is released as an effortlessly catchy springboard for the band’s growing intercontinental ambitions.
A further 13, UK and Ireland dates follow almost immediately on their return to home shores, including dates at Manchester’s O2 Ritz, London’s The Garage and two, huge homecoming nights at Liverpool’s landmark, 2,000-capacity Eventim Olympia venue with numerous dates sold out or with low ticket warnings. Having enjoyed a summer of sporadic festival appearances and a springtime tour in support of Miles Kane, the Pied Piper-pull is in full effect as Red Rum Club lead swelling hordes of ready-to-party music fans into yet bigger venues.
