Emerging New Zealand singer / songwriter Mikey Dam has shared his single 'Time' via Republic Records. The track expands on his fusion of melodic based acoustic intertwined with an R&B cadence that Mikey is carving out as his niche.

The track was written in a late night solo session and is a raw, heart spoken account created in just one sitting. With the words falling out of his mouth in the fashion of a freestyle, the single was initially recorded on a phone voice memo; his smooth, soothing melodies containing the organic quality of an emotional cleanse.

He says on the track,

“I went through a phase where I felt like I was running out of time. I also felt like that because I was super far away from family after moving away from hometown. My whole objective with moving to the big city was to accomplish a checkpoint I had in my head. I had mad paranoia about running out of time and not achieving what I wanted to achieve, and I thought I was going to let people down. That pressure was there. I also had people dying in my family, and family members getting locked up in prison. That changed my whole perspective of the value of time.”

Since moving to the big city to pursue a career in music 3 years ago, Mikey Dam has already amassed millions of streams on the handful of singles he’s released so far. Poised as one to watch in contemporary R&B circles, 'Time' is a testament to Mikey’s natural craftsmanship as both a songwriter and artist with an instinct for raw relatability.

Bryony is back with her second single of 2020 'More Than Friends' which was written and recorded in her bedroom turned studio over lockdown.

“I wrote More Than Friends in the middle of lockdown - just as we were all starting to really miss normality. It’s about the experience of finding someone new when you’re so used to someone who doesn’t make you happy. It’s such a great feeling early on in a relationship and I felt like in the midst of everything crazy going on I needed a song to pick me up and remind me how exciting life is.”

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Dagny & Sigrid, ‘More Than Friends’ tells the story of finding someone new when you’re used to someone who hasn’t made you happy. The synth hooks are reminiscent of Robyn’s early 2000s hits, with a line in the chorus paying homage to the singer’s ‘Dancing on My Own’. Bryony’s new release builds on the success of her previous singles, which landed her on the BBC Introducing Hotlist and received support from many influential tastemakers.
