Sam Ryder | Whirlwind

Sam Ryder has recently released his debut single, 'Whirlwind' via Parlaphone, which perfectly describes his journey over the past year.

'Whirlwind' was written and produced in collaboration with Jamie Hartman with additional production from Dan Grech-Marguerat and his stand out vocals are truly at the forefront. Lyrically impressive and set against a stunning acoustic backdrop, it's one that you can truly get lost in.

Sam says of the track,

“To be frustratingly ambiguous about the meaning (I’ll let you make up your own mind) when you're spiralling, up or down, there are forces at work that are beyond your control. In essence, If you ever find yourself swept up in a whirlwind, it might (or might not) be of some comfort to know that where you end up may not be completely up to you”.

Spending much of his adult life touring, writing and performing in bands, living in Hawaii for a while and even owning a vegan coffee shop before deciding it was time to pursue his dreams of being a solo artist. As the world was put into lockdown last March, Sam uploaded the first of his now infamous covers, quickly catching attention of some famous fans, with compilations featuring on The Ellen Show, BBC's Newsbeat and many more. The fans came flooding in, and now his socials stand at over 10 million followers, with TikTok crowning his account as the most popular UK artist of 2020.

Sam has spent his time over the last few months writing and recording original tracks with some of the world's most finest writers and producers, which are sure to set to continue his rise in 2021.

'Whirlwind' is out now.
